What’s going on in Boston before Sweet Molasses?

Hi Major League Bluesers!

It’s not just New York City that’s having stuff going on during the week between Sweet Mo and Nocturne!

BLUES UNION

You can start your Sweet Boston-y goodness on Thursday night at Blues Union in Somerville! Blues Union is one of Boston’s two weekly blues dances, and it regularly features nationally-renowned instructors and DJs. But it’s Sweet Molasses week, so we had to throw in a little something extra. So we’re having live music from Amy Kucharik and Friends (with Benefits). Amy’s band is a favorite among Boston dancers, and if you were here on Sunday for Sweet Molasses 2013, you know why. Here she is performing her original song, “Dance Crush Blues”

Blues Union is located at 16 Bow St, Somerville, MA. The lesson starts at 7:30, dance starts at 9:30, and it’s $5 for each.

HARPOON BREWERY TOUR

If that wasn’t enough, we’re also going to be doing a tour of Boston’s own Harpoon Brewery on Friday afternoon (July 25th). Harpoon is one of two large breweries in Boston, and the tours are a ton of fun. It also helps that the tour features a tasting of Harpoon’s myriad of beers and ciders.

Spots are limited. If you’re interested, e-mail zhbrass+sweetmolasses@gmail.com. The Harpoon Brewery is located in the Waterfront district at 306 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA. You can take the Silver Line 2 Bus from South Station to the Harbor Street stop. Tickets are $5 per person, and people should be there by 1:30 PM.

And again, just a friendly reminder to fill out the ride share document, especially if you have a car.
